New thread for CU Summer 2010 group

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi everyone, I wanted to start a new thread for those of us entering the CU BSN program this summer.

I was just accepted off the call list a couple of days ago and picked up my paperwork yesterday. I'm a little overwhelmed with everything I need to do in the next few weeks and thought I'd start this thread so we could ask questions and share information with one another.

I do have a couple of questions right off the bat, if anyone can help me--

1. if you're a Colorado resident and are using the COF stipend, did you have any problems authorizing it during the registration process?

2. Where did you buy your books? I haven't had a chance yet to research and compare prices.

thanks in advance!

A.

Limeade,

CONGRATS!!!! I'm so happy for you! I bought all 5 of my books from sellers on Amazon and paid a total of $215. That was with shipping and for all five; I thought that was pretty good. I haven't been able to authorize the COF yet. It did say to wait 48-72 hours after registration and then to check it again. I will check it today. Lots for you to do in the next coming weeks. Again...I am so happy you got in. How many people did you call/text immediately? I sent a mass text out within minutes of getting that call...

:)

Ditto to what HghlndsRnch said. I had to go to the COF site and after registering waited 72 hours before going back to verify. Then after I registered for classes there was a button for Summer COF that I clicked.

As far as books, I also ordered mine off of Amazon and Ebay. Pretty inexpensive this term but I am sure that will change in August! HghlndsRnch, I also live in HR. I haven't decided to utilize the RTD or to drive.

Register for classes asap. I am in the Wed afternoon lab. I knew I should have registered at 7am instead of 8:30 but figured I could wait till I got home from work. I was wrong! I missed out on the Thurs PM lab :(

June 2 will be here before we know it!

Oh and grats Limeade!! I bet you have never been happier to be so busy :)

Thanks to both of you, and I am excited although it still feels somewhat surreal at this point. Classes start one month from today--hard to believe!

It's great to hear that my fellow wait-listers got "the call". I can't believe that school starts in a month!!! So much to do. I kinda got screwed on scheduling because they were having IT problems so I couldn't register until 11:30 so I ended up with Monday morning lab :( But at least I'm in school so I can't complain too much. I also live in the Highlands Ranch area (C-470 & Yosemite). I wish lightrail went all the way up I-225 but maybe we could set up a car pool??

Funny that you all live in Highlands Ranch! You should set up a carpool. I'm in Denver, about 10 minutes from Anshutz, so that will be nice. I got the last spot in the Friday morning lab--almost got stuck in the Friday afternoon session!

Does anyone know when tuition is due and if they actually send out a bill in the mail or how that works?

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend--I am trying to motivate myself to study for my A&P II final on Monday.

One more question, if anyone knows--when does the summer semester end? The schedule in my packet says classes go from 6/7 to 7/30, but online it says they go until 8/20.

I'll call on Monday, but thought I'd check here too in case anyone knows.

thanks!

I noticed that also Limeade. What did you find out about the correct dates? I was assuming August 20 would be the last date and the registration was more accurate but I'd like to confirm.

I'm thinking that our classes end 7/30. That's what it says on the course schedules and if you look on the academic calendar College of Nursing is in parenthesis after the 8 week course end date. I hope so anyway!! I think we will need a month off after this summer :)

I just spoke to someone in the Academics Office and she confirmed that our classes do in fact end on July 30. She explained that they have a new online system and that the registration dates listed online are reflecting the downtown campus. She confirmed with others in her office and assured me that our classes end July 30. This will give us a month break before the next ones!

Don't shoot the messenger if somehow I was given wrong information but she sounded extremely confident and sure!

alippin, thank you for calling and reporting back--that is good news! I hadn't yet had a chance to call them--too much to do all of a sudden.
