Just wanted to throw something out here to everyone to see what kinds of different technology are being implemented in you workplace or plan to be implemented in the future. I found out today at orientation that my hospital is doing trial runs with tv's in the patients room where they can play games, watch movies, page the nurse or maintainence, and things like that. They also told us about IV pumps that are being demonstrated by different companies that when the IV is hung it would have a bar code that would be scanned by the pump and from there the pump would automatically be set to run at the rate set by the MD.
Anyone else heard of any new technology comming their way?

At my current facility, the patients actually have an armband that has a bar-code on it. We have to scan each and every medication with its own bar-code and then scan the bar-code on the patient's armband before administering the medication as a safety check..........the upside is that our meds are then charted automatically for us and is not another step.
