New SFSU/CSM ABSN Spring 2019

Published

Is anyone applying for this? It's the replacement for the SFSU/Sequoia program. At CSM instead of Canada. 1 year instead of 2. Must have a previous Bachelor's degree since it's an ABSN now. I don't see a thread for it yet...

Really want to apply, but afraid my science prereqs might be expired.

I have one transcript that will probably be processed on Monday or Tuesday, after the March 10th deadline so I'm not too sure what's going to happen. I did already submit my nursingcas app though. Anyone in a similar situation or have any experience with this? ?

I think if you already turned in the application, it should be fine. last time for SMU, I paid for the automatic transcript entry and turned in my transcripts two week later after submitting my app; as long as it was in time before the preliminary review. however, sfsu could be more strict?

For someone who asked, this is the first year of this program, however it is the updated program from the old Canada/SFSU program, which was 2 years. I guess they decided to do an ABSN instead and at CSM instead of Canada College. I so wanted to apply to this program, but unfortunately they said my sciences expired.

Hello aspiring nurses!

I applied to the summer 2019 SFSU/CSM BSN-A as well. Now I'm crossing my fingers. Does any one have any idea by what criteria they will choose applicants?

@ERtech-Nurse: your stats look competitive! I too am worried about my overall GPA and Bachelors Degree GPA from over a decade ago.

My stats are as follows:

Last 60 units: about 3.5

Prerequisite GPA: 3.6

TEAS: 85.3%

Over 117 hour of volunteer experience at Kaiser and 40 hours in Guatemala.

I was told we'd know by EOM if we're invited to interview. Also, I was told by the SFSU Graduate division the following re: SFSU ID.

"Thank you for contacting the Division of Graduate Studies, I would like to apologize for the confusion when it comes to this concern. You do not actually need to input an SFSU ID# into that application section, you may either leave it blank entirely or input “000 000 000”."

Good luck every one!

Any updates for anyone? I received an email on March 12 from sfsu saying my application has been forwarded to my intended graduate program

I received that email as well but haven't gotten any other updates. Hopefully soon! =]

Hi all, I was just told by SFSU Nursing Department that the admissions team is currently in the process of sending out interview date notifications via email. Keep an eye on your inbox. Crossing fingers!

Here's a more solid update (see below) from [email protected].

Has any one been invited to interview yet?

"Our Admissions team began sending out invitations March 27th, and will be continuing to do so until approximately the end of this week or early next week.

Interviews will be held the second week of April. Final admissions decisions will be sent out to all applicants by mid-April."

Has anyone received an interview invite? A little discouraged that they started sending them out yesterday but still trying to be hopeful!

That's so strange! My friend called in 2 weeks and I heard the lady on the other line say they sent out invites already! And that you don't have to be interviewed to be accepted into the program. We double checked that she was referring to the absn program. I'm getting mixed signals. Anywho, I guess we'll keep our eyes peeled for an interview invite...

I got an email invite to interview. I'm trying to taper my excitement. I know this is no guarantee of admissions. But I am excited!

The only issue is that this is on short-notice and I have an outdoor trip planned. Now that life is slower school & work-wise, I was hoping to get outdoors. Hopefully I can reschedule interview.

Has any one else heard back?

Congrats @Amélie!
