New RN on job hunt

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi! I am a new Rn in Nevada. I'm so upset because no hospital is hiring a new RN. :-( I'm starting to become hopeless.

How are nurses in your state specially the novice nurses? Please help me.. I need to have a job so badly.

Specializes in Adult Acute Care Medicine.

Hang in there. Keep applying. Jobs WILL open up.

Are you willing to relocate?

There are nursing jobs all over the country.

My sister just got her second degree in nursing and is just applying everywhere.

Don't give up!

Specializes in Critical Care.

Are you willing to relocate? I live in Oklahoma City, graduated in August and started my nurse intern program less than a month after graduation. There are quite a few major hospitals in the area who are still hiring new grads. PM me if you would like some more info.

Don't come to Oregon! At least not anytime soon. LOL

I graduated in June, passed the boards in July, work in a large hospital for the past three years as a unit secretary and I haven't been able to get a job YET! I've applied at hospitals, SNF's, and clinics. I have had interviews, but they follow up with "went with more experienced RN's."

Also, Oregon is saturated with nursing schools which even makes it harder with all that's going on this year.

I wish you luck getting started in your new career!

Specializes in OR Hearts 10.

We are still hiring new grads in Longview, TX, PM me if you have any questions.

Good luck in your job hunt...

Good Luck New RN!

I am a newer RN from NJ and it is getting tough out there. I know many new RNs who are having the same difficulty. My only advise is to think outside of the box. Think nursing homes, home care, doctors offices, etc. Just keep applying and consider a part time or per diem position to get your foot in the door.

Good Luck!

Specializes in telemetry/critical care.

don't look in ALabama either. Birmingham had a hospital close recently and now there are many applicants for any nursing job.

Same situation here in South Florida. I just completed a TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) this weekend as I am trying to beef up my resume with applicable certifications. I have worked in the E.R. and Urgent Care settings prior to receiving my RN this past month. The instructor of the course ends up being a clinical educator in one of the major trauma centers in our area so.......... needless to say the cost of the course was well worth every penny. He was very willing to allow me to use him as an employee referral and asked me to email him my resume! I've already applied for two openings and sent him my resume so I will keep my fingers (and toes) crossed. Moral of my story is you may want to network with people in your field of interest. Join the local chapters of nursing organizations that interest you as you never know who you might meet!
