New RN grad pay in South florida??

Published

Hi I'm a new RN grad from Arizona. I'm moving to Miami in a couple of months. Can anyone tell me the starting pay for most hospitals for a new grad RN? They pay $25 dollars an hour here in Phoenix, AZ. Also, Any suggestions on which hospital to apply?

Yes, I'm finding that Florida is VERY expensive too! I took a holiday through destin florida vacations and thought Florida would be a nice place to live and work. Now that I've moved here I realize that I won't be able to afford a home either even though prices are coming down now. I love living in Florida though so I guess I will just keep renting.

For those moving to Miami from another city, please remember too that in this area, $21 or even $24 doesn't stretch as far as it does in other areas in FL or the rest of the country.

I live here now, and rent is EXPENSIVE compared to other cities. Starting pay in Madison, WI where i'm from (2 hours from chicago) is closer to $25-$27 base pay (w/o shift differentials) and cost of living (esp housing for renters and homeowners) is MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper.

I could never afford to own a home in Miami....even on a nurse's salary. That's why I plan to move as soon as I can after graduation...hopefully immediately, if my wife can get a good job where we plan to relocate.

I have been doing a little research, I think around my area for new grads starting pay is 21.50. SWFL
