Hey everyone,

I passed my nursing boards 2 months ago :balloons: and have yet to get an interview. :banghead: My GPA is good, I had externed at a prestigious hospital, and still nothing. I'm in the NYC area and was wondering how other new grads are doing. I'm broke and frustrated, I didn't think it would be this difficult.

I understand your frustration. Don't give up. There's something out there for you. The reality is that people are staying in their jobs b/c of the economy or companies are not hiring. It has improved in my area (NM). Have faith that the right job will appear for you for the right pay with right company. Another thing to do is write down on paper your IDEAL job, pay, etc. Describe it in detail and look at it every day. Can't hurt, right?

Best of luck to you!!! :nurse:

Trust me, I feel your pain. It is beyond frustrating. I never expected to get my dream job right out of school, but I also didn't think I would be considering bankruptcy.....

Hang in there.....I truly hope things turn around for us all. It's truly a shame so many new grads are going to waste because everyone wants "experience" and won't touch us.

I just graduated in June, and I got on at one of the better hospitals in town by going to the units and meeting the Nurse Managers in person. By doing this I was able to get a feel for the units and put myself out there.

I stayed away from just hunting the online postings. I only applied online after I was directed to do so by the hiring NM. I love my unit, and I think by hitting the road and shaking hands, I was able to find a good match. Go back to some units where you did clinicals and maybe met the manager or made an impression on some of the regular floor nurses.

Don't give up!
