Don't procrastinate. There's no cramming in nursing school. Good luck!

I will start in January as well. I know a few people and they have told me to work on time management.

Please know you won't be able to read all assigned readings. Instead focus your study on what is covered in class. Practice nclex questions like your life depends on it (and it does). Read and reread because most of these concepts will stick when you study more than twice. Most importantly, never give up.

Good luck, I will be starting in January also....
Oh..... one more thing...... One you are in clinicals, never, EVER discuss your patients outside of the hospital. That will get you kicked out of your program. It's not just unsavory to do so, it's illegal.

Start working on pharmacology now. Get Hencke's Med-Math or a book like that and start going through it. Pharmacology is not hard, it's just that there is a LOT of it. So expose yourself to the terms, words, and ideas before they turn the firehose on you in class. Pharmacology is like a brand-new language, and you do not learn a language in one gulp.
Guys I really appreciate all your comments and advice I will make sure I use them well.
Any one in MD?
