Hello, I was wondering what the market is like for new nursing graduates. Right now I am in an accelerated BSN program and will be graduating in Dec and then sititing for my boards. ...and possibly what hospitals in NYC areas are good for new grads ( good training)???

the market for new grads I would say is bad. Two hospitals in the city/borough regions have closed down leaving experienced nurses out of work and searching for new jobs. So new grads in that region have to compete with those nurses who cost less to train and bring more to the table. :/ some hospitals are on hiring freezes,.. A friend of mine called flushing hospital last month and they said that they are still waiting for the go ahead by the city to allow them to hire new nurses.
However, don't let that deter you. Just be prepared,.. don't dilly dally and wait too long to take your boards and be persistent and confident. Let them know that though you might not be experienced, you have a good work ethic and you would be committed to their institution. I feel like being honest in the cover letter and interviews is key because they can sense fluff and know when you're trying to make yourself look better than you are. :)
good luck.. study hard!
