Hi everyone, just want to say it's cool to finally have an account here, every time I've felt I need some kind of nursing support I've found it here. My username is based on some feeling that has been discussed here too, I've been a working nurse (LPN) for 4 months now and I guess it's still understandable I have the syndrome, on some days I feel assured and confident as if I'm some pro.
Anyway, so far as a nurse, I have needle stuck myself, gotten burnt out (my blood sugar was a 64 and I was dizzy, sweating), administered a non bleb TB shot and wrong holed a straight Cath, some of those have been my nervy moments, and I'm sure as each one passes when I become a pro (prayerfully lol) I can laugh at these experiences. In all these instances i always find someone who has gone through these phases so would appreciate it if people commented with embarrassing/nervy first time situations and how they got better in this lovely profession? Cheers.

Most have done all those things you wrote about ,and not just as a new nurse, including the "wrong holed straight cath". Happens more that you know! Sounds like you're doing well. Learn from each and keep on going, 4 more months will pass before you know it and each one better.

Anyone I hear someone discussing their performance like you do I immediately think, "This person is going to be a great nurse."
An unfortunate truth I discovered about this profession is that sometimes you learn things really well by screwing them up. Keep up the good work, you are doing fine.

Welcome to the profession. AN is a wonderful support system , that I wish I had ..when I made the very same mistakes 30 years ago.
You have an excellent sense of humor. That's what it takes to succeed in this dilemma known as nursing.
Thanks so much for the positive replies. I'm looking to go far and get more confident the feedback means a lot. : )
