hello, i recently received my offer letter for my first RN position. I was looking over it again and it says the introductory period is 180 days! is that normal? i thought it was usually 90days? this concerns me becasue i havent had vacation or anything in 2 years since starting school. I am not sure if I will be able to take vacation while on probation, i am pretty sure i cant... sigh

If you desperately need a vacation during the 180 day probationary period, I'm assured you could ask the staffing coordinator or nurse manager for some unpaid time off. Many workplaces are fine with this, as long as you request the unpaid vacation days in writing and at least 30 days in advance. Good luck to you!
