If you are unhappy with the Saunders book, then go to the bookstore and pick out another one. Just use something to study from. It doesn't matter as long as you work at it.

look for a book based on this new exam...I like books with reviews as well as questions. Review & Rationales or those Illustrated guides. Take some time at the bookstore to see which you like.
I also used NCSBN online review- you can buy different lengths of time
good luck!

I found out that the new test ( i took it in june) that it was alot harder. Stuff that wasn't presented in school. I just need some guidance, or some confidence. I just feel like the year i was in school was for nothing and i should choose a different profession. I couldn't picture myself doing anything else but i feel like i am not smart enough for it.

Aww, hang in there!
I don't know if Princeton Review makes LPN books, but I used Princeton and Saunders for my NCLEX and a few of my questions were literally VERBATIM from the Princeton book.
Not saying that to help you get answers, but that the Princeton folks were dead on with the NCLEX questions, rationales, and style.

I think you should get your test anxiety treated first. Go to your doctor and see about getting some anti anxiety meds. I had a horrible anxiety attack during my test and failed the first time. I felt like my brain was in a fog and it took me 20 minutes to answer the first question. A simple dosage calculation. I went right away to my doctor and got on Zoloft which is helping. I also saw a therapist which also helped. I would also read up on ways to overcome test anxiety. Try visualization. Please don't feel like a failure. You got through school and you can do this!!
Also try the book - "You Are Smarter Than You Think You Are" It is useful for anyone who needs to do critical thinking. It helps you discover what kind of learner you are.

I took my NCLEX RN yesterday and I feel like I was well prepared. I did the Learning extension questions, Kaplan and Saunders. My school also had NCLEX review sessions everyday so I tried to attend thoses atleast 2-3 times a week. My anxiety was an issue so I had my Dr. prescribe me Buspar which is like Xanax but it didn't make me sleepy. I went on Vacation 4 days before I took the test and didn't come back until the day before. I seriously believe that prayer and support from my family and friends really helped me. I tried the PVT trick and according to it I passed. I think the biggest thing is to never give up on your dreams and when you get knocked down get back up again.:redbeathe
