new NCLEX-RN passing standard: what's the impact?

hi. i've just joined allnurses.com and i would just like to know what is the impact of the new passing standard issued by NCSBN. does this mean that nclex will be harder when implemented come april 1, 2007? the 2007 test plan seems the same with the current test plan...if i missed something, what's the difference? i'm currently doing first tip of suzanne's plan for nclex so i'm kind of concerned if there are other reading materials i should go through after i finishing saunders.

i see. so then, if it's possible, the repeaters take the nclex again before april 2007 -- to at least have a higher chance of passing?

how about the first timers? previous posts state that the materials or way to study for the new test plan wouldn't matter that much. isn't there new topics included or at least restructured..? i think it's in management of care...or something...

it will affect evryone but i guess everybody has a means to cope up with it, and that is to study more...

it will affect all repeaters....those who failed at 75 before will have a harder time again...those who failed at 265 before will have a harder time too....

Imagine that those who failed at 75, they failed miserably that the computer decided not to give anymore questions. It will be always harder for them, with increased passing score or not.

However, for 265 failers, unfortunate for them, they need extra effort than luck. If the logits passing were elevated, the 265 failers could fail at earlier than 265.

There is nothing more we could do but to pray, study well and do our best.

Life's reality in this material world is survival of the fittest. There are many who died of hunger in the past and the numbers are increasing by the hour, but that's just how the world is right now. With the increasing population all over the world, the cost of living is very high these days. In the same manner, the elevation of the nclex-rn logits for passing would be like this. There are many who wish to immigrate with the hope of having a good life. So many would want to be a nurse in the US. The law of supply and demand would tell us that there are many ways to "trim" the numbers to obtain the best people for the job, one strategy is to make things harder, raise the fees, etc.

Casualties will be casualties. Remember, life is a constant struggle to survive. However, despite all these, let us not forget that our purpose is not just to live for ourselves, but to live for others, to live doing the will of God. Let us all be hopeful and accept God's will and never force our own for God is the all-knowing and loves us very much. Well, all of us have a call in life. May we have the strength and wisdom to accept God's will. Faith with action. May God bless us all!

Sorry, but that is 100% incorrect. The increase that is required to pass the exam is a decinal point, meaning less than 1% change. The number of questions has never had any bearing on the outcome of an exam. If you know the material the way that you should, then there should be no issue at all.

You need to look at the results of your first exam and find where your weak points are and make sure that you have that covered. Also be aware that the questions that you get the next time will not have anything to do with the last exam, and will be based on how you are answering the questions as they are given to you.

referring to your reply -- then, there would be no issue whether one should be able to sit in the exam before april 1 2007? it boils down to preparing one's self fully for the nclex.
