I just graduated nursing school in May, and now I am going to take my NCLEX-RN soon, and I know that as of April 1st there is the new format. The one where there are multiple answers as opposed to just one, and then there are diagrams, and fill in the blanks. I had a few practice ones on an Exit exam that my school gives in order to graduate, yes you must pass it, or you do not graduate, it is supposed to tell how you will do on the NCLEX. Anyway- I was wondering if anyone took the new formatted NCLEX-RN yet, and if so how they thought that it was. I am also looking for an NCLEX-RN review book to buy, one that is based on the new format given. I have the old Saunders and Mosby, but I want to get a new one, anyone use one? and if so which one is it, and what do you think? I appreciate any and all inquiries. THANKS in advance. And GOOD LUCK to everyone :balloons:

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Nursing School is tough....... Anway, I am also a recent RN graduate. Graduated Fall 2003. I recently took the NCLEX and just received 1 of the new format questions. It was a question on infection control. The one which you click all that apply. My exam shut down at 75 questions. Don't over do it with these questions. You shouldn't get more than 5. I bought a book specifically with new format questions. It was a Lippencott book. It helped a lot. Besides it was cheap. Less than $20.
BEST OF LUCK ON THE NCLEX-RN.
Wow, I thought that all of the questions where going to be mult. answeres. Did you take the exam after April 1st? That is when the new questions where going into effect. Plus they raised the passing score a little. I am glad that you passed the NCLEX RN. Thanks for replying to me. GOOD LUCK>
Yes, I took the NCLEX 2 weeks ago. I only received 1 new format question. I didn't know that they raised the passing score. Don't worry. If you made it out of Nursing school, you should do well on the NCLEX. Don't doubt your potential.
Best of Luck!!!!!!
Thank you sooo much for your reply. It does make me feel a lot better knowing that it won't all be the new format b/c I was using the NCLEX reviews all throughout nursing school to help me study, and I am pretty good at them now, and to throw me off by doing new ones, that was a bummer. You just totally made my confidence rise about 60%
, THANKS so much for your input, and CONGRATS to you for passing. Hope everything in your future is as you planned. KIM

I just took my exam and I had no new format questions. They were all multiple choice. Actually now that I think about it I did have one diagram question, but no fill in the blanks.
