New Navy NCP Selectee Looking for others!

Published

Just got word that I have been selected for the Navy Nurse Candidate Program! Super excited! I would love to get in contact with others. I graduate in May of 2012. Anyone else out there?

they take alot out so you dont get bumped a tax bracket. you should get the majority of it back when you file.

Signed 01 June, got my first check 22 June for $483.50 and the bonus 24 June $3750. Sure hope we get a lot back!

Delaney and Baird...just curious, how do you know that you'll be going to ODS in Sept of 2012? I graduate May 2012 and they have yet to give me an idea...

That's just the time frame my recruiter told me since we get 30 days to take the Nclex, and they already posted the ODS dates for next year.

I'm curious. After completing your meps and getting all the waivers you need, getting professionally recommended by the board, how long did it take for you to hear back (for final selection) if you are selected/waitlisted/rejected?

Hmm, I had found out that I was recommended in January, but didn't go for my MEPS until March. (I had to get a waiver). Then I found out in April that they were going to 'Phase me in' in June or July and I actually signed 01 June.

Thanks for your timeline. I finally got everything submitted by May (waivers, pro recs, meps) for final selection. I have not received any word back if I've been accepted/waitlisted/rejected. :uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3: The waiting is killing me. LOL. Not sure if I should "bother" my recruiter. Perhaps, those in charge are probably taking a summer vacation. Hence the delay. :D:D:D

Bleemme - I believe that I was told by my recruiter that they weren't taking any else until the next fiscal year (Oct). But if you hear differently, I would love to know! Right now I am stalled in trying to get a waiver. Were yours given relatively easily? How long did they take?

Thanks for the update, oaktown2. I just wished that they tell me of my status - accepted/waitlisted/rejected sooner rather than later, as I want to plan my life accordingly. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead::banghead: As to your question, mine took 4 months. The longest part was having the Navy okay me to go to MEPS. Once I went to MEPS, I was disqualified and my recruiter got started on waivers and that took about 3 weeks. I will definitely keep you updated if I hear otherwise.

Just found out yesterday that I'm in!!!!!!!!!!! My recruiter has my acceptance letter and I will swear in in a couple of days.:yeah: I am beyond excited. I had almost come to the conclusion that it wasn't going to happen, and then out of the blue I get an email. I'm still smiling!

Congrats 1spunky!!
