I'm just starting nursing school this semester and it already seems like there's a ton of work to be done. Any suggestions on how to stay up to date with reading notes/books and best studying techniques you have found that work. Clearly I'm a rookie on all this new stuff but any advice, tips or tricks on how to make it will certainly go a long way. Thanks!
become friends with girls so they can help you meet their single friends =D(If you are their friend then they will give a good word). If you date someone in the program you better make sure its worth it. You want to avoid drama and dont try to sleep with anyone for the sake of satisfying your man parts. It will cause alot of problems.
No disrespect to the this poster, but this is probably not a good advice. The OP wants how to focus in school, meeting "single girls" is not the way to go; however, you do want to get a nice group of classmates to do a study group or ask questions.
For me, the library is the place where i can really study and concentrate, and evenings is the best time for me. time management is definitely a plus, so dedicate certain amount of time to study..
record your lectures if they will let you,, i had two or three recorders to help separate the content for each class..... other than than, read daily your notes, skim the chapters, especially the boxes... and read the saunders nclex review book as it goes along with the content your studying in class.. such as when your studying endocrine in class, the saunders book has a endocrine chapter also.
also, get you some of those little spiral bound "notes",,, med surg notes, and lab values notes are a must have for clinicals. Whatever is wrong with your pt, look up in the med surg notes to see how to treat it and it will help you with your care plan at end of the day.. also ask your pt what they plan is for them after they leave the hospital and if they got someone to take care of them, that will help with they psychosocial part of care planning.
Great advice everyone. I am just finishing my prereqs after 25 years of being out of school. I took five classes a semester for the last three semesters and there was a ton of work and I thought I would struggle. Being an older student I found that I prioritize better and and make my study time quality study time and it was a breeze. Everything that is new seems like a mountain but if you prepare for it, there is only a molehill. I have talked to many friends in nursing and they said stay ahead and be prepared and most importantly, don't stress. If you have been accepted into a nursing program and your are dedicated, you will do fine. Good luck to everyone.
