Some of us are in the position of making the only income in the household. Some of us are single without dependents. Some of us are divorced, separated, or widowed with one or more dependents to support. Some have a good child support to help out and yet others do not.

Some of us are the fortunate enough to have another spouse or live in which helps with the bills. In these cases some are the primary wage earners while some are not.

The big myth or possible reality is that the majority of nurses are women who are secondary income earners who work on the side to help pay for the little extras in life and there for do not have the need to earn as much as another profession.

Lets actually see what the reality truly is.:)

grouchy, here are just a few.

Electricians

Plumbers

heavy equipment operators

truck drivers

In some areas, garbage collectors

Machinists

architects

airline pilots

in many cities, municipal workers who repair roads

surveyors

golf course greens keepers

Depends on where you are i suppose;

in this area only the airline pilots, plumbers, architects and surveyiors make more than $40,000,

Truck driver $7, electricians $12, Equipment operators $7-$15, machinests $6 (yes that is correct, Maybe $7) Greens keepers $10 on public courses, $15 on private. all this in a heavily union dominated area. Now if we are talking the rudley over paid auto workers at GM and Ford, thats a whole different story, Pushing a broom will get ya $40,000/year, millwrights about $80,000, gee i wonder why a stipped down econbox cost $15,000

I work FT 12 hour shifts. My husband is a self employed dairy farmer. Talk about zero benefits!! I have great health insurance through my employer which is the main reason I work FT. To obtain medical insurance through my husband for our family would be outrageous!!! With my benefits, I probably make a little more than my husband. My husband works a lot of hours for the pay!! But he loves it!!! I guess that what is matters most!
