I just saw this section!? Im still checking out all the diff sections and didnt realize this is where I prob should be posting LOL. Im not in school, but I want to be a nurse SO bad...a L&D nurse. I didnt do good in HS, but others have told me that's ok. Its the college classes that count. Which makes me feel much better. I just hope I can get into a school! I guess the 1st step is calling and making an appt with a counselor? Do I explain I want to take the courses I need to get into a nursing school? And once I pass those classes THEN I apply to nursing schools right? I want this SO bad!
A little about me. Im 30 and a SAHM to 3 kids. 10, 5 and almost 3. I have a wonderful hubby and we live in NJ.
I know it's not going to be easy, everyone keeps telling me how hard it'll be. But I really want this!
KMP77, if you haven't done any prereqs (sciences -- psych, sociology, etc.) or coreqs (English, math, history, etc.), that's what you will start with....you can do this one or two classes at a time. If it's been awhile, that's the best way to start.
But first -- the counselor at the college(s) you are considering to give you the true scoop for where YOU will be attending!!
Wdwpixie is correct. Starting with a couple classes worked for me, but check with your situation and your school first.
As far as being a SAHM with young children, many women have gone through nursing school with young children and jobs. It may take more creative time planning, and help from others, but it can be done.

Well, taking a class or two is a great way to get back into school. I am 45, and last Spring I took 2 classes to get my feet wet, then I stopped working to attend school full time.
I happen to study a LOT, but my children are adults, and I do not work. So for me, anything less than an A was unacceptable. Although, I realize I should not stress about it - passing is all it takes.
