NEW JOB, transitioning, feelings of dread & worry!

Published

I just completed my first week of being an RN. I work at a long-term care home where I have up to 24 patients at one time. Everyday feels different, sometimes I feel like WOW, this is great and other times I feel like I don't wanna go back. Is this normal for a new grad? I feel like I will never learn the ropes and:scrying: Im just not cut out to be a nurse. :(

I think you need to be less harsh on your self. Give yourself time it will all come to you. :)

It is very normal to feel that way. We have all had those feelings with new jobs. It takes time to adjust and get used to the routine. I promise you, down the road, you will look back on how you feel at this moment and think, "wow" glad I dont feel like that anymore.

I work in a basic care facility and I pass over 70 sets of meds during my shift. At first I would go home and think, "what am I doing, this is craziness". Well fast foward a year later and it is much better. I have a routine down and that makes things alot easier.

Go easy on yourself and just give yourself sometime!
