Hello I live in Birmingham Alabama. I was offered a full time job yesterday as a home health nurse. I have been a rn for 9.5 years. Ive never worked Home health. I work the hospital med surg and stepdown. I was offered a pay of 32.00 per regular visit. 60 for a new admit. Is the pay32.00 low for a regular visit?

Do I understand that you are getting paid per visit and not hourly? Is this specialized private duty nursing, or home health? I'm currently in process of applying for a home health position and the wage is hourly.

For an RN that is a low visit rate, but might be typical for that area.
So what should the pay rate be.
Yes that is hourly

You can't be hourly and paid by visit rate, (well you can but it's either one or the other).
It looks like they quoted you a visit rate, meaning you'll get $32 for approx 1-1 1/2 hrs of work and $60 for approx 3 hrs of work, including time in the office, driving to the patient's residence, patient care, charting, and follow up phone calls.
Typically, LPNs get from $25-$35/visit; RN's $40-$50/visit. Those are for straight follow-up visits. SOC, recert, etc. calls for more.

I am payed $34 for home health visits, $40 for hospice visits, $78 for home health admissions, $105 for hospice admissions. Home health visits unfortunately take a lot of time and medicare regulates the *%^ out of it, so you have to chart very specifically. Charting takes forever. Try to keep the home health visit to less than 1/2 hour so you can spend the rest of the time charting.
