Hi SC RN.... congrats and welcome!!! I have a question, I have thought about checking into a position like that while I am in school. What is average pay for that job.....If you don't mind me asking. If any one else knows of what a hospital would pay for a tech like position....lemmme know!
You know, it's funny, I didn't ask about any benefits or tuition reimbursements ... it was just the perfect job for me and I was just happy to be offered it so quickly!
The pay is sad ... just 9.37/hr to start. I currently make more than twice that in my position as HR Manager and plan to continue working here part-time. I'll let you know what the benefits are when I go through my physical and paperwork with their HR department.
Thanks for all the support! :)

I found this board a few weeks ago and haven't been able to go to any other websites since then. I'm starting the Nursing Program in the Fall and hope to become a Nurse-Midwife and eventually get my Masters so that I can teach.
So ... after reading all of the posts, I was dying to get into Nursing somehow (only have my CNA), when a friend called and told me there was an opening for a Nurse Tech on the Post Partum floor of the hospital where I will be having my clinicals. Could the timing have been any better? No way! I called, they called me back, I went in for a first interview ... and was hired on the spot! It just doesn't get any better than that.
I start in ten days and couldn't be more happy ... and the sad part is that it pays LESS THAN HALF what my current job pays. And I don't care! It's right where I want to be ...
Thanks to all of you who post here and bare your souls ... as scary as it seems, I'm looking forward to Nursing school and all that comes with it! I'm on my way!
