Hi everyone,

I have been working at the same hospital (Pennsylvania) for the last 3 and a half years. Since I was hired I have not been required to have a new criminal record check, child abuse, and fingerprinting done. I am at starting to look for a new job and my question is do I need to renew all of these before applying for another job? Thanks

Only the new employer could answer that question.

Specializes in Trauma, Orthopedics.

Wouldn't they do that for you as part of the hiring process?

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

Most places will do that as a part of the new hire process and pay for it; best to find out from your potential employer.

New employers will do their own background checks. I am just coming onboard a job where I didn't have to get a 'physical'. I was gobsmacked. No physical or drug test?? I'm not getting medical benefits, maybe that's why. And they are a staffing agency for private duty care, so they can 'fire you at will', unlike the protracted HR and union stuff that usually happens. Anyway, I was asking "are you SURE you don't want me to get a physical etc?" lol and the HR rep seemed shocked that I was shocked.

Any drug screens, background checks, etc have always been initiated by my prospective employer
