Does anybody attend the accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Aspiring,

well I didn't do GREAT on the Hesi, but I did pass it. lol I took the exam twice, the first time I did horrible on the sciences because its been so long since I've had those classes. The second time around I did much better, I got 70's on the 3 sciences, I had like a 90 in math and all high 80's of the english material. Overall my final score was an 80.

Let me ask you, how was your prerequisite courses? Trust me I'm not a top notch student when it comes to all my grades as a whole, but I think NJCU really looks to know the applicant rather than just base them solely off of their grades.

Hi All:

I took the HESI once and I got an 84 overall. I did poorly in the bio, which was 68 but with the bio average being only 72, I dont think I'll retake it.

My GPA was decent 3.3, I'm just hoping i'll get in.

Hi:

I'm also applying for NJCU fall 2010. I will try and get any perkins loans or grants, then i'll see what the private banks interest rates are based on a good credit score.

It's also a good idea not to use much cash upfront to pay your tuition because by using loans it will be documented when you graduate and they may get paid off by an employer.

I noticed you said you did poorly on the bio like I did. Would you mind sharing your score on the bio?

yea i did below average in the sciences. since i hve not taken chem as a prereq yet, i hope they can ignore this grade. however, i still did bad on sciences. i got high 80s in a and P as pre reqs and A so far in micro. chem will be over the summer. how much is tuition?

I really blew it! (48)...even though I felt I could have done better if I didn't have PC probs at the site.....Anyway I plan to retake.....hope to pull at least in the 70's since it appears class average was only 72. I did not see any of the questions/topic in the Study Guide. Did you?

I didn't think the Chemistry, A+P or Bio sections were covered adequately at all in the study guide. The only reason I think I did well (even though I could have done better) in all of them was because they are still so fresh in my mind from the courses...but if not I wouldn't have done well at all...

I totally agree the sciences especially bio section was not well addressed in the study guide. A few questions I had not a clue on.

If you could pull a 70 in the bio section 2nd time around, you will be fine.

I took the HESI last friday and got over an 85 on Bio, Chem, and A n P I got a 92 and did over 84 on all the english and math sections. overall I got an 85 so I'm pretty happy about that. I have my BS in Biology from Ramapo. Graduated in '09 so I am hoping to be accepted!! I am very nervous though!! Hoping for the best! Good luck to everyone!

The study guide did not help at all and I thought the HESI was so hard!! There was minimal information from the study book. If I did not have a degree in Bio I would have done AWFUL.

i thought the hesi was easy, and if i had studied from the sciences i would have done better. i think the book did cover those section and a lot of also common sense. i found vocab, math and other things in the the test that i learned in hesi. so study and supplement with classes

are the HESI scores sent directly to NJCU?
