U.S.A. New Jersey

Does anybody attend the accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

are the HESI scores sent directly to NJCU?

I'm pretty sure they do.

are the HESI scores sent directly to NJCU?

Yes the Hesi scores are sent directly to NJCU. From what i was told, they are sent the same day you take the test. :)

ok thanks :)

hey everyone!

I'm accepted to njcu and seeing that some of u are taking hesi's again even tho you got an ok score thought i'd put this out there:the hesi matters- u must pass with an 80

but other than that dont kill urself to do amazing. i got in the low 70's on

bio and a&p and little higher in chem and then some 80's and 90's but

overall i was in the lowww 80's but they care much more if your

going to be an asset to the class-good reference letters/great essay and

act in a polite manner.

although if your able to retake it im sure it wont hurt!

so with that in mind i wish you all luck!

Thanks for sharing. I dont know what my average was. would u post ur exact scores because that is all i have to compare. also what was ur undergrad gpa if u dont mind sharing? when where all ur materials received by them and when did they notify u? how long did it take for them to contact u? Also r u going to the jersey city one? what will the schedule be like? and what is the price tag of the program.

guys I found out that chem is not a requirement!

Njcutwentyten: Are you at the campus that starts in May? I think I recalled being told

that Jersey City applicants won't be reviewed until after the app. deadline--4/22.....So I'm assuming

that you are in that other program, (Wall City) I think? I was not able to get a retake due to no available

site.....so I'm not sure at this point if I will be considered with a 48 in Bio though my overall score did make the 80 cuttoff! Any thoughts? Iam soooo sad

hey..determined 2b..how was ur chem score? did u get a high chem score which allowed u do do well overall? i got a low score on the sciences and got a 77.8 average, I am really sad about this. Hopefully they see that chem brought this down from an 80. since chem does not count, perhaps they will give me a chance.

Aspiring_nursing,

My scores are as follows: Bio 48, Chem 78, A&P 78, Vocab 84, Grammar 96, Math 88, Reading 94....950 in the Critical Thinking sect.

I can tell you from experience that it depends on the criteria that most important to the college. I have completed 1 yr of a ADN program at a community college--they use the TEAS exam...I did not score higher than 75% but their minimum was 65%. I got straight acceptance without going on waitlist while people I heard of people with higher than 75% that didn't get accepted....so I wish i knew what they are really looking at. My ungrad GPA is 3.4 ....I hope that will help me.

Just sent them my Essay so hopefully it was strong enough to overlook the Bio score. If I don't get accepted I will go back to the ADN program (Fall 2010) and finish in 2 semesters. So I guess all we can do now is wait!!

i got a low score on the sciences and got a 77.8.

BTW Aspiring_nursing, is 77.8 your average for the seven(7) sections or just the 3 sciences? I think that the answer to this will be the KEY for your app!

so my scores were about 72 in a&p and bio and 76 in chem and 80 something in reading comp dont rememb exactly.. and in the 90's on grammer and math.. ya im going to wall but they didnt send out letters until about a week and a half ago!! the price is 27,000 plus you have to buy books and uniforms... hopes this helps!

if you need anything else let me know..

ya im in the other program.. wow i hope your considered even with 48 in bio! if i were you i'd send them an email explaining the 48 and that even though you didnt do well it was a one time thing and make sure your essay/resume/reference letters are amazing. also do you have a good GPA and prereq marks?

I spoke with Samantha regarding the problems I had at the Prometric test site and was suppose to do a retake but it didn't happen so she already knew that I had some difficulty.....don't know if she will pass on this info to the decision-makers. I think essay/references/resume are all great. Prerequsites are ok...nothing spectacular, A, C(s)& B...ungrad 3.4....will see what happens.
