Does anybody attend the Accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Guys,
I'm also an applicant to the 2010 bsn program @ NJCU. I've been following the threads and crossing my fingers until the decisions are made. I actually just called and spoke to someone who said that decisions should be mailed out by Monday so we should be hearing by sometime next week. Does anyone hear know how much the HESI exam weighs over our GPA? My pre-req gpa is somewhere in the 3. something, although my final undergard was 2.83 due to some issues (which I explained) and I got an overall 85.9 on the HESI thanks to a low score on the bio (68)... ugh!!!! Anyway, the woman said the cutoff was an 80 for the HESI so I'm not sure what that means for anyone below an 80.... they said they got over 300 applications for about 54 spots so lets keep our fingers crossed!!!! Good luck to everyone

I see you said you explained your undergrad gpa.. where did you explain that at.. did your write a seperate letter?
Hey,
In the essay letter I touched on the issue and what happened since those circumstances actually helped me realize I wanted to go into nursing...... I also mentioned it to Samantha when we spoke way back in January, and she said alot of applicants have just below that preferred 3.4 in undergrad so I should make sure to be within that 80th percentile or higher since they weigh the test heavily (according to her)... from what I got since I had less than a 3.0, but I had good grades in pre-reqs (As, and B) then I just needed to make sure my HESI was high and me lors were good and all that.... I was fine until I saw that the bio score was a 68 so now I'm freaking out bc eventhough they look at the whole score overall I don't know if the 68 will put me in jeopordy of not being looked at......
yea my undergrad gpa wasnt great...i did well in my pre-reqs so far and I have a good amount of experience in the field.. im an emt and worked in some doctors office and hospital...I got a 87.2 on the hesi so Im hoping all that will be enough, im just soo nervous bc noone knows what they truly focus on. Next week is going to take forever to come lol
anbnursing,
I hear ya. I also have the same experience (EMT until last year) and work @ a hospital.....hopefully this along with the letters and other experience will help.... if this doesn't work out I was accepted to a 2 year, so I guess I'll be going there if I don't get in....I was told numerous times that the HESI is a VERY VERY important factor for the applicantions and they look @ your overall score..... with your 87 I would think you'd deff. be up there in the list
