accelerated bsn program at njcu in jersey city, nj

Does anybody attend the accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was going to apply to NJCU for the May 2009 cohort, but I got a letter from the school pretty late notifying about the deadline of the HESI exam. I figured it's too late to apply, especially if I'd have to cram studying for this test. Even though I'm not applying anymore, I'm just wondering if anyone a could tell me what subjects are on the exam? I was apprehensive about taking it when I heard that Physics might be included.

hey nj,

each school can choose the components they want to include on the test. njcu didn't add physics (thank goodness). it was basic math, chem, bio, a&p, a little section where they give you cases of patients and you have to preform sort of a triage on who to treat first. then the last two sections to see your personality and learning style.

it wasn't that bad, i mean either you know it or you don't, they let you take it twice and take the higher of the two scores which is good.

are you going to apply next year, or try for somewhere else this year?

i definitely will keep you posted...you do the same good luck im so excited!

I took the Hesi on Friday the 13th! It was so much easier than I thought it would be. I got a 96 overall, and somehow I got a 100 on the chemistry section. I seriously think they gave me the slow-person version of the test! I am wondering if a Hesi score like mine means that I will be getting an acceptance letter, or if the competition is extra fierce for this program?

I should also mention to anyone that did not take the HESI yet, study the VOCAB section!! There were at least 5 words directly from the practice book, that I would have never known if I did not look at that section. I think the vocab section was my lowest score out of all 7 sections.

Are you starting the program in Sept @ njcu. Why did you take the hesi so soon? I was told you take in some time in spring or early summer. I haven't applied yet since Im just gathering all my info now but will submit it before the deadline in May. Im taking the prereqs and I'll be done by July. Also can you tell me which is the study guide. Thanks

I think that applies only to the Associate degree to BSN program. I think it's too new to be accredited.

on the NJCU nursing website there is a link for handbooks...the FastTrack program has one and it talks about the program being accredited.

PLEASE HELP

I am applying to the accelerated nursing program at NJCU. I wanted to speak with someone who has been in the program since I have a few questions such as what are the names of the books you should use to study for the entrance HESI exam, how is the overall program and is it difficult to get into the program? So, if you know someone that has already been in the program and if they can give me some tips regarding the program, that would be great and very helpful. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.

We took ours early because we are applying for the communiversity program that starts in May. The September cohort on Jersey City's campus doesn't have to take theirs yet.

Hi everyone,

In the future I am looking to apply for the May 2010 program. I will not graduate with my undergraduate degree until May 2010. Have any of you been in this position? Will this hurt my chances of being accepted? I want to know if it is worth rushing to get my prerequisites done now? Please let me know, THANKS!

I heard from the NJCU's assistant director (The accelerated program in Wall). She said the letters went out today, so we should all know by the end of the week.

Good luck!
