Where are the jobs???? Anyone know of any new grad programs starting in hospitals? I'm very discouraged and I'm so shocked by one particular institution in New Brunswick. No one gets back to you and you get very little information when you do happen to get someone on the phone. Their website has the same available positions on it since I've been checking from March. They have not added anything new at all. I cannot believe I worked so hard through school only to be at this point of insanity. I feel like I've been lied to. Thanks, need to vent.:angryfire
I waited until I passed before applying for jobs. Though, it didn't matter much. I never heard back from any hospitals regarding any jobs in NJ.
NY moved quicker on me. I had job offers from two of the top hospitals in NYC within 3 weeks of going to a their respective job fairs, and I accepted one of them.
I still get emails from NJ hospitals saying that they're not hiring new grads, or they're looking for someone with more experience.
So, to answer you original question, I don't think it matters much. Just take the NCLEX as soon as possible, and then you can focus on finding a job, which itself is a full-time job.

I am thankful for interviews, but seriously I was expecting a flood, not a trickle of calls.:anbd:
:igtsyt: Where is the nursing shortage?:oornt:
It's interesting to note that now that I have nursing experience, even though I'm still on orientation, I've gotten calls a day after applying for a job or two, just to see what would happen. I have no intention of leaving my current job, I just wanted to see if there was a difference in response from having no experience, to having 'experience'.
Hi I graduated with my BSN in dec of 07' and i'm now studying take the NCLEX, i live in essex county NJ and i'm wondering should i apply for jobs in NYC and also get the ny license instead since i've been reading about horrible stories of not getting nursing jobs in jersey..(i'm originally from brooklyn)
thanks in advance

Would you say it is a good idea to start applying to hospitals before you graduate, even though it's added pressure to pass the NCLEX, if you get a job offer?
