Hello! I was recently hired at Queen's & will be moving from the mainland soon. Can anyone offer advice as to housing areas near the hospital? I'll be at the main Punchbowl campus.
Also was wondering if anyone here might be willing to be a contact, as I don't know anyone there and will be full of questions. It'd be great to have someone to meet once I get there and help direct me as I search for housing, a car, etc. Thank you so much!

Congrats on the job! I'm curious... how many years of experience do you have? What was the application process like?
My advice would be to find a place close to the hospital but it could be on the pricier side. Traffic is pretty crazy in Hawaii and you don't want to add an extra 2+ hours to your commute on top of a 12.5 hour shift. Good luck! When do you start?
I have 2.5 yrs experience in ER. I start the middle of November. Yes I'm looking for places near the hospital! Thanks for your response

I am considering an assignment at this hospital as a traveler sometime in the future. Anyone have any experiences they can share about working here?

Hi Love911Nursing! I will also be moving from the mainland in December and will be applying at Queen's. I was just wondering if you conducted your interviews via phone from the mainland or if you were physically on the island to interview? I can't offer you much advice seeing as I am not there yet but I can think of many questions I have for you seeing as I'm in the same situation! :)
Hi there - it was all by phone!

I interviewed for queens a little while ago. How long did it take for them to make a decision?
I heard back within a week of the phone interview. Good luck!

If you don't mind me asking, what degree do you have? The reason I ask is because I've been reading a lot about how a bsn is needed to get a job in Hawaii. Thanks!
Sure! I have my BSN. Most hospitals here require at least a BSN to be hired.
Thanks for the reply! I guess i have to go back to school before planning on moving.
