  1. Don't do it! Get experience before you move back
  2. Be a bum... lol. Binge on Netflix, enjoy the time off. You will never have this time ever again once you graduate Or taking a CNA course is not a bad idea. Especially if the area you live has a tough job market.
  3. everywhere. and yes St Rose does hire ADNs. I've heard they're on a hiring freeze right now though. Not 100% sure
  4. Sounds too familiar lol. Search for and apply to jobs in the whole valley health system, not just SV.
  5. Sounds all too familiar... number one advice: MOVE!
  6. I've always wanted to get into blogging. I love writing and I especially love guiding people & sharing my experiences... I just don't know where to start. The hardest part for me is getting traffic to my sites.
  7. I started off in med-surg with my heart set on OB. Back when I was applying, the jobs were very minimal (it has since turned around where I live). Anyway, I took the first job I was offered (med-surg). You should apply to any and everything, take what you can get. I'll tell you this... now that I look back on it, I feel like having that med-surg background provided an amazing foundation for the start of my nursing career. I feel confident in transferring to pretty much any other speciality. BUT in the midst of working med-surg, I was pretty miserable! I hated it. I was unhappy. So I say, if you can get into your specialty take the job! If you plan to eventually get out of L&D and do something more critical, I would say to start in med-surg. But if you know L&D is where you'll be for the rest of your career, by all means start there. Good luck! I'm sure you will be fine either way you choose. You will adapt to whatever situation you put yourself into.
  8. School nursing is very easy, not to mention fun to play with the kids too!
  9. Realize that you're never gonna know everything! You will never have all the answers! Always ask questions. If you don't know something, look it up.
  10. If you're desperate, go down to the units & hand in your resume in person. This has worked for many of my colleagues who were having a hard time getting a position. Also, stalk the managers, figure out their emails & email them your resume. LOL. Hey, whatever works right?
  11. what about it didn't you like?
  12. Which hospital did you get hired at?
  13. YEAH! I've heard that many times. Oh "I'm in med school", when in fact it is an MA program. Uhh... do you know what med school is? LOL
