New to home health...what's in your bag?

Published

I just accepted a job at a home health agency as a caregiver. I'm really excited about it. I'm curious to know what to bring along with me, especially for overnight assignments.

Thanks!

Gloves, hand sanitizer, baby wash, wipes, plastic bags, ibuprofen (4 me), baby shampoo, cell phone charger, ipad and charger, protein bars, food i will eat, instant coffee and cup, change of clothing for accidents, h20.

For overnight i add toiletries, blanket, pillow.

I love home health and my clients seem to like me. I never, ever, discuss personal problems. I keep the focus on the client and assisting them.

Good luck and enjoy!

I am also new to home health, but I have yet to do an overnight assignment. Because I have a very busy family with 4 kids, one of them disabled, I really can't do overnight's.....however tomc5555's advice sounds exactly right.

I basically pack for anything to happen, like Tomc. You just NEVER know, lol. I bring my laptop and textbooks for overnights, after our clients have gone to sleep. Well congrats to you on your new job! I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

The only thing i bring with me to work is my phone + charger and lunch. Everything else (gloves, wipes etc) is already provided for me thank goodness lol.

Thanks! Do you use a backpack or some other type of bag?

Thank you! I've been taking my books with me to study. There isn't much else to do once the client goes to sleep.
