New here...any help would be great!!!

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Jeanie and this is my first post! After 2 years as a Communications Major (and hating it)...I feel like I've found my calling and have decided to practically start over to go into nursing. I do have a few questions and I apologize if this is the wrong section to post in..so please hear me out!

I'm currently a junior at Cal State Fullerton...I just transferred over from a local community college (Golden West). CSUF does not offer an AA nursing program. They do offer a BSN program but only accept applicants that have obtained their AA in nursing. I think my best path right now is to go back to a JC and finish my pre-reqs there and apply to the nursing program at Golden West where I can then obtain my AA. It would save me time since the classes at Golden West, I can go straight in, as opposed to classes at CSUF that have a pre-requisite. Any input on this? I'm just curious if anyone thinks i'm making the wrong decision. Also, will it look bad when applying to nursing school if I had attended CSUF for a semester and left?

Thanks so much!

Welcome Jeanie!!! My name is Anne and I am an RN from northeast Louisiana. I am always glad to see newcomers to the site. It is a great place to meet new friends and get to discuss issues, nurse related or not, with others. Everyone is very helpful, and you will meet many new friends. I hope school is going well for you. Feel free to pm me anytime if I can be of any assistance. I have been a nurse since 1991, and have really enjoyed my choice of working in the ER. Never a dull moment!

Usually JC for pre-reqs and your ADN is a good route...cheap, easy, and if you just want to get in to the bedside or office..a-ok.

You will need your BSN at some point if you want to do management, or cases, or just to get more opportunity...but to get in, ADN is one way to do it!

Welcome to an.com! We are a great place to visit...but wait till you get to be known around here!!!!
