Catholic Med Center Jobs

U.S.A. New Hampshire

Published

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows much about Catholic Medical Center and if they hire new grads. I am interested in working there. Any information would be greatly appreciated! :)

CONGRATS on getting a job at CMC! :) That is so exciting. Where did you go for nursing school? Any advice to new grads? Did they hire you when you already had your license or before?

What unit did you get a job on if you do not mind me asking?

Thanks!

I tried to get a job on the unit where I was an extern last Spring...but they wouldnt hire me without a license. I sat in July for the NCLEX and was licensed then. But I was also almost halfway though my first pregnancy at that point, so interviewing while pregnant, and finishing up my program, I knew it would be hard to get a job. So I started applying again after my son was born in January.

I'd rather not say which unit. I am not comfortable with too many identifiers on the internet. I hope you understand. Though I do know that the facility is open to new grads and my unit in particular has hired many.

I went to school at UNH.

Is it difficult for new nurses who have not worked there to get a job?

Thanks for all your help by the way!

Melmarie23,

How long after you sent in your application did it take for you to hear back from CMC? Also, did you send any follow up e-mails regarding your application status for the position you applied for? I am considering finding the contact info for the charge nurse of the unit i have just applied for and sending a follow up e-mail to her/him. I just graduated in May and am awaiting my ATT and temp license (BON is slow). Also i know some of my fellow graduates from May have allready been hired and no graduates from May 2011 have thier temp licenses or ATT yet. Lastly, do you have any advice on what to include in a cover letter or resume? just looking for all the advice i can get. It is greatly appreciated.

It took a couple weeks for me to get called in for an interview after I applied. And then about 3 weeks after the interview I was called with the job offer.

I went to UNH. As far as my for my resume and cover letter-I just included what I considered my strengths and touched upon the experience I gained in clinicals and my practicum. If you google "RN resume" or "New grad RN resume" you get tons of samples, and I found those all useful (you can do the same for cover letters). I did apply to a bunch of hospitals last spring before I sat for NCLEX, but I never got a call back until I actually had my license. Even then, it was about 9 months after I became licensed did I actually land a job. But I was also pregnant at that same time as well. :-P

Thank you for getting back to me. I loved my clinical experience at CMC and I would love to work there. I am still waiting for my temp RN and ATT. I just applied to RMU E100 & E200. Hopefully someone will be interested in what i have to offer. My fear is that it will take to long to find a job & i'll become a stale grad. I really just want to jump into a med/surge position or rehab position. Guess i'll just have to be persistant and patient. Thanks again for the advice.

you wont be "stale!" lol. Like I said, it was 9+ months between becoming licensed and actually being hired for me. They understand. The market in this area isnt the greatest.

Good luck!

What was the interview process like at CMC? Did you meet with the nurse manager or HR first? Was it just one interview or two? I just got called for an interview but this is my first one at CMC so I do not know what to expect.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

for CMC I was contacted directly by the director of the floor (after I applied online). Then I interviewed with her and the educator on the floor. I never once met with HR during the interview process and the only time I spoke with them was when they called to extend me the job offer.

I did interview at Elliot and I met with HR first then the director of the floor I was interviewing for there.

Thank you melmarie23! Congrats on the job offer! What was the interview like? More behavioral questions or questions concerning the unit population?
