ATTN ALL NEW GRADS:

HELLO & THANK YOU for reading this post. I am curious to see who attended the Job Fair at The Doubletree Hotel in San Digo on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, as well as The RN New Grad Open House at Grossmont Hospital on April 8, & April 16. I attended The Job Fair on April 8, & was told that The New Grad Program for Children's Hospital & UCSD was already full, & they were not taking any more Resumes. I gave my resumes to Kaiser & Sharp. I did not recieve any phone calls as a result of the Job Fair & have learned that you have to do alot of Running Around to get into one of these New Grad Programs. It is getting more & more Competitive each year, as these fill up quickly. I got a lot of "Run Around" from both Kaiser & Sharp. I was constantly given different names regarding the recruiter/manager of my areas of interest. I finally spoke to the right person from Sharp, & attended The New Grad Open House at Grossmont Hospital. I'm glad that I did, because I was chosen for the New Grad program. I first interviewed with L&D, but was told that there were only 4 positions for about 50 Applicants. I decided to interview with Med/Surg & Telemetry, & was chosen for Med/Surg. I am Glad, as I did not want to wait another year for a New Program to start. I figured that I have to "STEP UP TO THE PLATE" sometime. So for anyone out there that did not get their First Choice, Don't Be Discouraged, A New Grad Has To Start Somewhere, & The way The Competition is as well as the Economy, Look at it as Paid Training & Experience. IT DEFINATELY IS GETTING hARDER TO GET IN a New Grad program. There were students everywhere in Uniform, who Have Not Yet Graduated! I have already Graduated, as well as am an Experienced LVN for 10 years. I am Curious, Please tell me which program you applied/Interviewed with & what your Experience was, as well as your choices & what you were offered. Also, when do you start, as well as your rate of pay to start? I am Very Curious. Your Honest Input Will Be Very Much Appreciated:bow: I Hope To Hear From All of You Soon, As ALL REPLIES ARE MOST WELCOME:mad: THANKS IN ADVANCE:nurse:

I got offered a NEW GRAD Job at Radys Children's Hospital in the NICU. Looking forward to it! It's going to be challenging, but a lot of fun!

Small World...I also attended the Sharp Open House and was offered (& accepted!) a position on a Med/Surg floor! Which one are you going to be working on? Maybe we'll both have orientation at the same time-that would be neat to know one person at least! Let me know what's going on and maybe I'll see you there!

Hi & Thanks For Your Response

I just received an email this morning regarding getting set up for my physical, etc. I was informed that letters were sent out last week, but I haven't received mine yet. I chose the NOC Shift, because that is all I have ever worked, & what I am most comfortable with. I also told them that I wanted The Acute Unit, but got the impression that we would be rotating through various units. I still don't know the Exact start date as of yet. Also, what Rate Of Pay were you quoted at The New Grad Open House? I attended in the afternoon, & am Very Grateful that I got something! Please feel free to email me at: [email protected] I Look forward to hearing from you, as well as meeting you. Take Care.:smokin:
