I am also applied to UPMC (Passavant and St. Margarets). I worked last summer at Children's doing office work for the Foundation and Children's Miracle Network. The process to get into the system can be very long and frustrating. I completely understand how you feel as I am in the same posistion.
Don't be discouraged, I've worked for UPMC for 5 years (3 as an aide while in nursing school and 2 as an RN - actually at St. Marg). Call the HR offices to find out if they've received your resumes and try contacting the unit directors/supervisors of the units. What units at St. Marg did you apply, I could help you out if you'd like. Following up after applying is always important, as is sending thank-you letters/emails after the interview.
Good luck!
I've heard from many unit managers and newly hired nurses that UPMC won't hire a graduate nurse unless s/he has passed the NCLEX first. I don't if it's hospital wide, but I have heard it from enough people not to discount it.
This is incorrect. Presbyterian DOES hire new grads who haven't taken their boards yet, this coming from a former GN nurse. I have only worked at Presby & St. Margaret.
I've been hearing otherwise from my nursing instructors, unit directors, and recently hired GNs- get your license first. I've been applying for Staff Nurse positions ever since January and I've only had 3 interviews. Some of my classmates haven't heard from UPMC at all. If there are any newly hired GNs who were hired by UPMC before passing NCLEX, I would like to know.
I applied for a position at UPMC (a training program for CNAs) and it took over a month to hear anything back. Also, if you go to UPMC Careers on facebook you can ask them right there for help. Sorry, I realize I have posted the facebook page before, but it is so helpful and I don't think a lot of people know about it yet.
I am finally starting to interview with UPMC. Put my applications in starting in May. I have interviewed at Passavant and Northwest ( live between the two of them) and have been offered a position at Northwest, so they definitely hire new grads. Passavant hires GN's but I have my license already. If hired as a GN you have to pass boards within 4 months.

Any other new grads applying/heard back from UPMC? I have a bunch of open applications from the past month and a half and have not heard anything yet! I am from the Pittsburgh area but about to graduate from Case Western. I would reallyyy like to work at Children's but I'm not sure how many new grads they will be hiring. Getting frustrated and would like to hear something!
