New Grads - some good news for jobs in NYC area

U.S.A. New York

Published

I went to a nursing job fair today at Javits Center in NYC and found the following companies are hiring new grads (RNs):

RCM Health Care Services (school nursing)

Advanced Medical Staffing

All Care/Onward Healthcare

Americare

Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center

Epic Staffing Services

Horizon Healthcare Staffing

Maimonides Medical Center

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center

NYU Langone Medical Center

Pearlcare Medical Staffing

TACT Medical Staffing

TheraCare of New York, Inc

Visiting Nurse Regional Home Care

VTA/Nurseworks

Winston Resources

The fair sponsors provided us with a program guide that has address and contact information for each. If anyone would like additional info I will keep the brochure until the weekend. Let me know if you want the contact info for a particular potential employer.

I know that many of them are not ideal jobs but they may be able to provide you with "RN experience" and ongoing use of your skills until the market starts to open up again.

Thanks for taking the time to share this list. I was at the fair today too, but as a new grad, I didnt have the patience to visit all the booths, just to get the same rejection tale. I've been to six plus career fairs in the tri-state area over the past few months, so I consider myself a professional career fair attendee. I haven't gotten any jobs or opportunities from one yet, but they are excellent for networking and a good way for recruiters to put your face to your resume.

On a happy note while at the fair, I got a call for an interview with a nurse manager from one the hospitals in attendence!!! Then I was able to go up to the nurse recruiter, that performed my HR interview, at their table and personally thank her. Hopefully she'll put in a good word for me. Maybe I was getting a little good karma my way for attending so many fairs

Excellent!

Thanks for this. Do you still have the contact info for Maimonades, Elizabeth Seton, Memorial Sloan, and NYU Langone?

ATTN: NYC nurses Do NOT sign up with RCM Health Care Services!!! I signed with this agency for flu clinics, but after a multitude of unprofessional and shady interactions, I realized that their expectations would put my license in jeopardy. They did not pay for mandatory training (which is illegal), they will not pay for travel or the time you get to the site to set-up before the clinic starts. They expect you to go to a company (alone) consent and administer >40 shots/hour! Needless to say, I will not work with RCM Health Care Services in the future!!!

Thank you for the information. I would also advise any experienced nurses (they don't market to new grads) never to sign up with White Glove not for any specific issues but just because my experiences with them were not on a professional level.

Anyway, I'm interested in your comment regarding an agency paying for mandatory training. I had not heard about this and did not expect it. How can I confirm that this is their responsibility?

I would never expect anyone to pay for my travel or time to get to a site for any job. Flu shots are fairly straightforwardand 40+ an hour doesn't sound unreasonable...fhowever, I do take your comments regarding RCM Health Care services seriously. I think they are the ones who had School Health jobs for new grads....hmmmm.

How did that job fair workout?

I would take TheraCare of New York from off my list. I had a friend who worked for them and did not get paid. The payroll department that processed her check is nuts. They have no idea as to what they are doing and the manager S. Kelly is nasty, rude and unprofessional.

I wouldnt advise anyone to go to TheraCare not unless you are homeless and you can wait a month before getting paid

can you guys shed any insight with TACT MEDICAL STAFFING>
