2019 New Grad Salaries

Published

Hey guys, wondering if we can create a thread with start salaries for new grads at nyc salaries. I hear Sloan Kettering and HSS have highest paying salaries but I never got a number.or af least a good estimate like if it’s above or below 95k.

the only information I currently have to contribute is that
HSS per diem rate is $60 an hour.

I will look into this and ask for you! Are you able to respond to my reply ? Or can you pretty please email me? It is not letting me message you on here since I just created my account and I have to post 15 times ugh. My email is [email protected] If you dont mind. It woould mean the world to me! thank youuuu

HSS? What is that? Sloan Kettering does pay well, but they should youre around cancer patients all day. Highly emotionally taxing and exposing yourself to chemo. That's why they pay

HSS stands for hospital for special surgery. I see your an RN they don't hire people part time only full time and per diem. Its a super low stress per diem especially in the same day surgery center so I suggest you look into it

Thanks, I'll look into it for my days off. I'd take them over SK any day. I do NYC school nursing on my days off now and am growing tired of it, I need to change.

Hi, I'm interested in school nursing. Did you have any nursing experience before becoming a school nurse and is it difficult to adjust being the only medical person in the building?

Yes, you need at least one year of experience first. No, it’s not hard being the only medical one, you just wish you had help when it gets busy bc these days kids love going to the nurse instead of being in class and go for any reason. You will also fight or bump heads with school officials bc you put health first (sending kids with head injuries or supposed concussions home) or sending kids back to class Bc there’s nothing wrong with them but the school doesn’t want to hear rich parents complain. You can go through it all and it doesn’t pay much. Many times people don’t think school nurses are real nurses. Too many attitudes to deal with.

Has anyone here landed a new grad interview at MSK (aka Sloan Kettering)?

sloan dis hire new grads. Apply, call HR to follow up its a big hiring season. Best way is to get referred by a current employee. starting on days is 97.1k on nights its about 103k for a CN 1

Does anyone know the types of New Graduate residency programs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center?? Is there more than one?/ Multiple start dates?

Not sure if this is helpful but I had an interview with Mt. Sinai today and was informed that their base pay for all RNs is $49.5/hr. There is a +$0.66 differential if you have a BSN, plus additional $ for working nights, years of experience etc. That is over $102k for a new grad!

what did you interview for? was it a specific new grad job I haven't seem them post any of those. @sarahbsn
