new grad RN

Hi wonderful Nurses!

this is my 1st time posting here, soo here we go! I am facing a dilemma and would love some advice/ wisdom from experienced nurses. so i graduated in december 2015 and passed the boards january 2016. i live in Massachusetts just fyi. i have been looking for a job nonstop since january and finally got LTC and psych offer same time. interviewed for both and facing a dilemma which one to accept. keep in mind i have no RN experience, do have some aide experience though. I am kind of leaning towards the psych job because its full-time with many benefits and the pay is very good, however i am scared if i get pigeonholed into psych and never find a way out :/ but then again the LTC is very busy 26-30 residents only one RN ( so i'll be the only RN on the unit and 3 aides) and so much medicare charting! and the pay really sucks :/ plus its only part-time so what I am making will not cover even my bills. don't know what to do, HALPPP!!

Take the psych job which is full time with benefits.

Take psych job. Who knows you may like it.

I would take the Psych Unit. LTC can be highly challenging and I wouldn't do it again. Also from what I've seen, hospitals don't really consider LTC as experience. Atleast if you already have your foot in a hospital, you can always do a inhouse transfer to a different unit

thanks all :) I will take the psych and will update how it goes:)
