New Grad RN, no job!

Published

It's hard to go into hospitals here in Southern California. I don't know what to do. I've been applying but they require experience. If I go to SNF, they will pay very low. Any advice or help?

You need a job -- regardless of pay. If you don't have the qualifications for a high-paying job right now, then accept a low-paying job and use that job to gain experience and develop a positive professional reputation. Then you will be qualified for higher paying jobs.

The important thing right now is that you get a job as a nurse. The longer you go without one, the less hirable you become. Low pay is better than no pay.

I applied for SNFs while waiting to get into a new grad program here in Southern California. All of them offered me more money or near the same amount I was offered at the hospitals. Don't let the pay discourage you :) a SNF is a great place to get experience while applying for residency programs.
