New Grad RN California

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi all!

I just recently took the boards a week ago and have been searching for my first RN job. I am moving out of state to California and am not too familiar with the hospital systems in the Southern region. I was curious as to if anyone could provide me with any information on some hospital systems that would be good to apply to as a new grad. I understand it is difficult but any help you can provide me with would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey! I graduated with my BSN in December and am also moving from out of state to California and have been having great difficulty trying to land my first RN job around the LA area. I unfortunately don't have any information but will be following this post to see if anyone else does. Thanks for starting this post!

Hi! I'm not too familiar with the LA area, but I am more familiar with the San Diego area! A lot of the major hospitals are already putting out Applications/Interviews for August start dates. Hospitals around here typically put stuff out months in advance ?

I know in LA/OC area theres - Cedar sinai, Torrance Memorial, LAC + USC, Hoag, Los Alamitos Medical Center, Kaiser, Fountain Valley, CHOC, CHLA

In San Diego/Riverside theres - Scripps, Sharp, Kaiser, Palomar, Rady's Childrens, UCSD, Tri City, Temecula Valley, Riverside Community

I also recommend using this site to find some help! http://newgradnursehelp.com

Good luck!

I don't know your area of interest but check out Fountain Valley Medical Center. I know they were looking to hire NG's in ICU and a few other units.

Congrats on your recent graduation and passing the boards! ?

I’m also a new grad moving from out of state to California. It’s very hard for new grad to get a job in the hospital. You may try long term care or home health. I got an offer from Manorcare last week. It’s a long term/sub acute facility. Hope this help!

PrimeHealth Care and Southern California Hospitals hire new grads. They have multiple locations in the LA region. They're smaller hospitals compared to Kaiser and UCLA and such, but they're willing to hire and train new grads. You can always work for them for a couple of years while you gain experience.
