Hi there! i want to start this new thread for those who applied to the new grad program at Mercy Hospital - Bakersfield. I got a call from HR. I need to do the online skill assessment.
Hello, Has anyone had a change of status on the CHW website. One of my positions (NICU) has changed from INTERVIEW to NOT SELECTED . My postpartum position still says INTERVIEW...... not sure if to be encouraged or to prepare for disappointment! I'm going with encouraged! ....Anybody else heard anything?
Yes brodaeia. My status' have changed also. My postpartum position still says interview. Maybe they haven't made the decision yet. And also my ER choice. ER was my number one choice. The other ones say not selected. Although I didn't even mention postpartum as one of my top three at the interview. Good luck to both of us. I was not chosen at San Joaquin. We'll see about this one. :)
I have no idea how many positions for the different departments that they have. I know. It is intense. When did you graduate? This is my second time applying for the Mercy New Grad program. I did absolutely terrible on the first interview. Well, either way, I know God has a plan. Again, wishing you the best of luck as well!
I graduated at the beginning of December 2010. I passed NCLEX in January but only starting looking for jobs in June. This was my first interview. I have been amazed how few positions there are available for new grads. When did you graduate oldlady2dog? I live about 2 hours from Bakersfield but it is not an option to relocate so if I get offered a position I will be doing a lot of driving and probably will have to stay down there a couple of nights a week too.... willing to do what ever it takes though to get my foot in the door and get those 2 years of experience thats prevents me from getting a job locally right now.
Uh, maybe we know each other! I graduated in the beginning of December 2010 too. I passed NCLEX in March, and only started really looking for jobs also about the same time. I had a BIG misconception about getting a nursing job. I was top of my class and was also an LVN previously. I applied for all of the hospitals locally and no luck. I bombed the Mercy interview, Memorial wouldn't interview me because I applied after I had graduated. And I didn't even get an interview at San Joaquin. So, it just goes to show how tough the competition is out there.

Me too mali2008. What units did you apply to? I applied to almost all except L&D, Surgery, and ob. But the rest, I did. I rated my top three as ER, ICU and then MED-Surg. I really hope for the best for everyone. It is really tough to be a new grad starting out, I am finding.
