  1. Will definitely have that done.....but also....if in fact that if the count is still the same....what do you feel is the next best step?
  2. Yeah....probably not the best specimen....I believe the ua showed many epithelial cells.
  3. Hello everyone. Just wondering what is your protocol for treating uti's in ob patients? Have a patient that continually shows ecoli on her urine culture from 5000-9000 even after a round of macrobid. Keep in mind it was greater than 100,000 at first. So this new colony could was after 2 rounds of abx....and was the same count after a third round. Since it is considered sub clinical with this count....what are your thoughts? Patient is uncomfortable with so many rounds of antibiotics. And MD next step is probably prophylactic macrobid and I know the patient is not going to be happy.
  4. I start on Monday. Yeah! And I've tried to become as well prepared as I can. I purchased books recommended on here and everything. I do have a question about what everyone carries their supplies in? Can anyone give me any ideas? Any websites? Thank you!
  5. Yes, I agree. It has been one long week. No, I did not hear anything. So, I'm pretty sure I did not get chosen. It is ok. I did my best at the interview, had a good resume and cover letter, had all of the requirements, and graduated cum laude. So, if I didn't get picked, it wasn't meant to be. Does anyone know if anyone on here got a position? I am just curious to know what they were looking for. Good luck to everyone in their future endeavors. By the way, my pp position and er still say interview too.
  6. Nope, nothing here yet either. I did call and he said that they had filled a few spots already and have already made those calls and they are working on filling the others. He said they would know by Wednesday for sure.
  7. Oh, I graduated from PUC. So, I guess we don't know each other. Yes, fingers crossed!
  8. So, this time around I was a little more prepared. I really worked on my resume and practiced my interview skills or lack thereof..... and while I feel that I did much better on my interview this time around.....who knows.
  9. Uh, maybe we know each other! I graduated in the beginning of December 2010 too. I passed NCLEX in March, and only started really looking for jobs also about the same time. I had a BIG misconception about getting a nursing job. I was top of my class and was also an LVN previously. I applied for all of the hospitals locally and no luck. I bombed the Mercy interview, Memorial wouldn't interview me because I applied after I had graduated. And I didn't even get an interview at San Joaquin. So, it just goes to show how tough the competition is out there.
  10. I have no idea how many positions for the different departments that they have. I know. It is intense. When did you graduate? This is my second time applying for the Mercy New Grad program. I did absolutely terrible on the first interview. Well, either way, I know God has a plan. Again, wishing you the best of luck as well!
  11. Yes brodaeia. My status' have changed also. My postpartum position still says interview. Maybe they haven't made the decision yet. And also my ER choice. ER was my number one choice. The other ones say not selected. Although I didn't even mention postpartum as one of my top three at the interview. Good luck to both of us. I was not chosen at San Joaquin. We'll see about this one. :)
  12. Thank you. I will definitely look into those.
  13. I'll start off by saying congrats! :) Then tell you to definitely bring it up with your OB, who I'm sure knows your history in depth and will be better to offer you advice than anyone on here. With that said, I was basically in the same boat as you a few years ago. It was my third pregnancy, two miscarriages prior. I was really worried, but I was a nurse, so although we are on our feet just as much and do heavy lifting as well, I'm sure you do it much more. I knew my limits. One day I started spotting....about 9 weeks along. I went home immediately and to my OB, who inadvertantly took me off of work until I was 14 weeks along. Everything turned out fine...thank God. But, really it has to be a decision between you and your physician. They want you to be safe as well.
  14. Hello everyone, I am a new grad RN. I am starting my first RN position in home health. I have a few years of acute care experience as an LVN. I would like to know if any of you would give me any good recommendations for any good reading material. I would love any recommendations that you have. I have been looking online at amazon.com and they have so many.....I just didn't want to blindly buy any and find that they weren't that good. Thanks in advance.
  15. Me too mali2008. What units did you apply to? I applied to almost all except L&D, Surgery, and ob. But the rest, I did. I rated my top three as ER, ICU and then MED-Surg. I really hope for the best for everyone. It is really tough to be a new grad starting out, I am finding.
