I attend LA Tech and although it is an ADN program, the grads from this school are highly respected and knowledgeable.

ULM and Grambling State University have good programs. Im not sure about other schools throughout the state.

Depending on the place and shift anywhere from 16-upper mid 20s. I came from TX working as a tech and was able to negotiate a higher salary. So it doesn't hurt to ask.

Area hospitals offered me as a new grad RN (BSN) 19-25. I make in the middle of that range. The higher paying hospitals here in New Orleans actually have pretty bad reps, so if you come here, do your research and forget about the dollar signs.

Thanks cpkRN...Def won't be headed to New Orleans....too far for us, and no plans to relocated until 2-3 years from now and then will be out of state.

I'm looking for information on Grambling's nursing school? What is the GPA that you think will be most acceptable for acceptance?

It's a bit of work to find it, but here is the link where you can find admission info for GSU. Looks like they want you to have a 2.75minimum GPA, so I would assume the higher you are, the better candidate you are.

Hi,

I just graduated 2 weeks ago and I have accepted a position at NLMC in Ruston. Base pay is $19.50/hr with $5 shift diff for evenings and nights!

Lexi-Where did you grad from if you don't mind me asking? Where will you be working at NLMC? Pay seems to be pretty comparable to other area hospitals from what I am seeing.

I graduated from McNeese... I was working as a nurse extern at a hospital in Lake Charles, but did not accept a job there. Base pay would have been $18.25

Also, I was offered a position at St. Francis on Friday (but I had already accepted the position in Ruston). Base pay is $20.15 at St. Francis. $4 shift diff and $2.50 for weekends
