  1. It depends on where you live. I graduated from an ADN program in Houston and worked at a hospital in the med center, when I started which was at the beginning of nursing school they were excited to hire me because they could potentially gain a nurse but as graduation came around and their journey to follow suit with the other hospitals in the medical center switching to BSN only for magnet status they decided I could either move to an outside facility within the hospital family(at a lower pay rate 3 dollars more than my current rate and not a guarenteed position) and obtain a BSN and transfer back in or leave my current position and apply and wait to see what would happen. I applied for a job in my homestate of Louisiana and was hired within 3 days of putting my application in with the pay rate I wanted and never asked if I had a BSN or not. I don't think a couple more research and community health classes makes you a better nurse by any means, but it is important to continue your education because the trend is leaning more towards BSN graduates. If I could do it all again I would go straight into my BSN program.
  2. I just got off orientation as well! It was definitely not what nursing school has prepared me for. I am getting the hang of it now, We were made to do this if not we would not be here. Working out the kinks can be stressful at times but we will get to the point where we won't have to think about doing things. I had an awesome preceptor who let me do pretty much everything, she prepared me to deal with a lot. Now I can hang with the big dogs and they love that. Everyday that I go in I feel more confident that I am progressing accordingly. Thank you for sharing, it feels good to know we all feel about the same. Which area do you work in? Good Luck!
  3. I so sorry honey, it definitely is heartbreaking especially with everything going on. My advice to you is to take a break, it is not like you do not know the content it's in there you learned it, you just have to apply it. Maybe your anxiety of knowing you must pass is getting in your way. What I did was I took my time read the question, looked at the answers, read the question again, took a deep breath and deciphered why the answer i chose was better that the others that were listed. Answer as many questions as you can from one source. Using too many can get in the way because all of them differ in some way. I used saunders and nclex 3500 but the two days before my test I chilled and had me time. Good luck you can do it!
  4. Yup I took nclex on 7/5 got the good pop up and passed!
  5. Thanks Everyone! Yes it is official I PASSED!!!!!!!
  6. That is strange I did the PVT 10 minutes after I took the test and again when I got home and it worked. It still says delivery successful. I hope everything works out!
  7. I was fine until I got to the freeway on the way to the testing center, then I started to freak! I was thinking every possible horrible thing that could happen. When I pulled into the center I took a huge deep breath and walked in. My nerves did get the best of me so i made a pit stop before going in. There were maybe 3 people testing at the time I walked in so it was really quiet. The first two questions I got were super easy then BAM 5 sata in a row! I was a wreck after that. But I just kept moving forward taking a deep breath each time I would tense up. It took me a little less than an hour and a half to complete the 75 questions and no one warned me about the blue screen. I nearly flipped out my chair when the the screen went out lol. I did the PVT on the way home and it wouldn't let me re-register. Did it again a few minutes ago just to be sure:) I should hopefully find out tomorrow La usually post the license number the next day if you passed so wish me luck!
  8. I took mine today as well!!! 75 questions 22 of which were select all that apply! I did the pearson trick and it would not let me re-register:)
  9. I am applying to Texas Tech for the spring start the fall deadline has already passed but you can finish in two semesters vs the traditional 12-18 months everywhere else.
  10. Louisiana loves nurses. I just graduated and I lived in Houston and unless you have a BSN good luck finding a job. I applied for a job in Louisiana the week before graduation, got called the next day and interviewed the Tuesday after(graduated 05/12/12) and got hired the next day, and started 6/11/12. Quick easy process. All I have left to do is take NCLEX on July 5th.
  11. Depending on the place and shift anywhere from 16-upper mid 20s. I came from TX working as a tech and was able to negotiate a higher salary. So it doesn't hurt to ask.
