Good evening!
I am getting ready to graduate from an ADN program and I am wondering if it is possible to get a first RN job in the NICU with an ADN? I will be attending a BSN program after I graduate but I am wanting to jump right into the specialty that I love. Anyone done this?

This is location specific. In some markets, you'll be shut out. In others, you've got a chance.

Yes. It's definitely possible. My unit prefers new grads and provides an extensive orientation. If you are open to moving, you shouldn't have a problem.

We had been hiring many new grads every 3 months for years, but due to more Level II NICUs popping up in the state, they are keeping more of their babies. So as a result, we are having a hiring freeze. Good thing is that the average acuity level will be going up, but less patients.
