New Grad in New York City

U.S.A. New York

Hello,

I'm not sure if I'm posting this to the correct category so please direct me if this is not correct.

I would love advice on how to go about getting a job as new BSN grad in New York City. I would take any nursing job and I don't rally have any strong connections to get me in as of now. Does anyone have any advice as to how you got a job or what hospitals typically hire new grad nurses? Should I not even bother trying or is this possible?

Thank you!

You can try applying to all. look on indeed.com and each hospital's website...you will see jobs that say experience required or does not mention it at all. Apply to all hospitals and online....thats the only way. They do not accept people randomly walking in and asking for jobs/giving resumes in person. NYC Hospitals are not jumping for new grads however they all hire a few just to keep a good balance.

Also consider alternate settings...such as clinics, rehab facilities, nursing homes, etc. You will have faster chance of getting a job in other settings than in a hospital. When looking for hosp jobs, It is better to have some RN experience in another setting than no RN experience at all. Not to mention a paycheck is better than being broke.
