Hi All,
So not only am I a new grad, but I have also recently started a new job at a hospital.Every single day by the time i get to work, I am an anxious wreck, sometimes to the point that feel ill...when i get home all i do is second guess myself. Is this normal to feel this way, I feel like all the learning i did at school could not prepare me for this, and i do feel like i will gain a ton of knowledge through work. Will this feeling go away once i gain some experience?? god i sure hope so...

this is a normal feeling that everyone faces as a new grad. although it may seem hard to push the feeling of anxiety away, but try to pull through it. we all started somewhere. everything will be okay. =)

Well, hopefully your new job is offering you some training. If not, I would recommend looking for other employment. It's perfectly normal to be nervous and scared. It's a job with a LOT of responsibility and lives are at stake. If you weren't a little scared or nervous I'd be worried. You just have to find a way to turn that into something constructive. If you're unsure of something research it and look it up; that's a great way to learn and find your confidence. Hang in there! It will get better!!

I am in the same position - a new grad, just starting out in a hospital job. :) I am very fortunate in that I have had awesome support from my fellow floor nurses as well as a really fantastic preceptor to show me the ropes. I do feel like my clinical time in school was fairly pointless... LOL.... you really realize how much you have let to learn after you graduate, don't you? It's very daunting. Every day I work though, I feel a little less apprehensive and a little more comfortable.
We all have to start somewhere.
