New Grad needs info on St. Francis Hospital in LI

U.S.A. New York

Hey everyone,

I recently got an interview for an RN position at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, Long Island. I'm super excited and a little nervous since its the first interview I've gotten since graduating this May. Can anyone please give me some info on the hospital, like the type of atmosphere, support available to new grads, salary, or what its like to interview there? I've researched the hospital like crazy but I would like to hear from anyone who has worked there or knows someone that works there.

Thanks!

Hello! I hope you got the position! I have an interview with a manager for a general med surg unit on Thursday. Do you remember any of the questions you were asked? Thanks!

I also have an interview on Thursday!

Good luck to you!

I'm not sure if I got the job, my interview went pretty well. I called HR to follow up and she asked me to send in my transcript and diploma. I don't have a 3.4. I'm stressing! I hope they still consider me.

I hope you got the job! How was your interview? Do have any advice/remember any questions they asked? Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply I just saw this. She asked me questions about myself, experiences during clinical rotation, how would a typical day of nursing would be for me, strength, weakness. And then she talked about the hospital itself and the orientation. How did your interview go?? Did she say when the next orientation is? Or when you'll hear back? I called HR and she said 2-3 weeks... which is soo long.. lol I gave up a flu shot clinic job for this, so hopefully I get it. I still have other interviews though just in case i dont get hired. But i would love to start here.

Gvaldez2 - Thanks so much! They said the next orientation begins Oct 17th!

Did u go for your next interview yet or do u have an offer already?? I haven't heard back at all.

Gvaldez2 - I was wondering if you heard back from St. Francis at all? I am in the similar situation as you are.

No I havent received a call or email. I keep calling HR and leaving messages but shes not calling me back. I might have to drive over there friday to ask her in person. lol I just need to know if I'm being considered or not.

I went into the office today and went to ask the nurse manager. She called the Nurse Recruiter to give me a call. FINALLY, the nurse recruiter called me back and said my gpa isn't good enough. I have a 3.23 and they require a 3.4. Pretty crazy because when I had the interview with the nurse manager, she made it seem like I was starting orientation in oct. Oh well, I was really excited to start there but I'm still hopeful about other hospitals!

Gvaldez2: St. Francis seems to be weird with calling people back. After my interview with the nurse manager it went pretty well and she told me to provide references to HR and they'll tell me when orientation classes begin. It felt like I may have gotten the position, so on my drive home from the interview I left a message for the HR woman asking how to provide references. An hour later I received a phone call from LIJ about an interview I had there 2 days prior, they offered me the position and I happily accepted.

Almost a week later I got a voicemail from the St. Francis HR woman. I didn't call back because I already had my LIJ offer so I'm not sure what she was going to tell me.

Hi how was your orientation? How long was it? I start orientation Dec 5 and would appreciate any information.

Hi I'm currently working in NJ but I'm looking to move to NY. I've applied to St Francis before but I never got called back for a 2nd interview. I was a new grad then. I'm thinking of reapplying. I just wanted to know if anyone would be willing to share their hourly rate? I need to compare it to my current salary.

Thanks!

I have just recently accepted a position at St. Francis..they asked me for my transcript to verify that my GPA was above 3.4 and they asked me about it in my panel interview with the nurse manager, senior clinical nurse, and CNS. hope this helps!
