New grad lpn...still no jobs

Published

Okay, Ive been looking for at least 8 hours a day for a job for 3 months now...theres nothing. So, does anyone know of any places in the Akron, Ohio/Medina area that are hiring new grad lpns.

hi Mel p, I know this is a really old post. Are you still at sunharbor? I just got hired and will orient in a week and I am looking for any feedback on this facility. I hope you're still out there:)

One place LPNs often forget to look is on their state website (ends in .gov).

All 50 states have a page for state job opportunities. I've looked around, and I've found that pretty much every state hires LPNs.

Thanks to Reagan, "state hospitals" aren't as ubiquitous as they once were, but all states have a least a couple stae run institutions. Psych hospitals, nursing homes, rehab centers, prisons, places like that. With any luck, one of these state facilities is near where you live. And all these sorts of facilities rely heavily on LPN/LVNs.

As a state employee, I can tell you government employment is so much better than private nursing homes, it isn't funny.

As a matter of fact, I just checked the state of Ohio website now, and I found four LPN job postings in Dayton, Gallipolis, Youngstown and Mt Vernon.

Hint: All states list their job postings alphabetically. Make sure to check under 'L' for Licensed Practical Nurse and under 'P' for Practical Nurse, Licensed. I've seen them listed under both on many state websites.

Check your state's government website!
