New Grad looking for work in LA area

Hello All,

I am a new grad in the Los Angeles area and have been looking for work since October. Does anyone know of hospitals that are hiring right now?

Also--for veteran nurses: I have been applying online but I prefer to go in and meet the HR people, and have been doing that, also. Is that too pushy?

You have got to be really pushy to find a job in this economy. There are few jobs. Apply for ALL of them. I would type "new grad" into indeed to job hunt.

Also, most jobs now require you to apply online first.

I would hit up any connection you may have, former instructors, etc.

Going in person to apply for jobs is never too pushy. I have found that I usually get hired on the spot or at least get told to come back for an interview when I go in person. When I have applied online, my applications go ignored.

Thank you for the help. I have been going into HR, not to the unit itself. I have seen some people posting that they actualy bring their resume to the unit. Which do you think is better? Thanks, Julia

is it ok to go straight to the unit and look for the manager without going thru HR? because i know you need the guest/visitor pass in order to go to the floor?

try to go to the hospitals you did clinicals at since you already have a pass. Ive gotten through to the unit without a pass.

I recently talked to Human Resources at Brothman Medical Center and found out that they will be having a job fair on Feb. 15 and will conduct interviews on the stop to fill the new grad positions they have on their website. I would call the HR at this hospital to make sure.

I think I mistakenly posted this response in another thread. I just called Brotman, HR, they say they will not be hiring any more new grads this year.
