Hello all,

I feelverylucky andtruley blessed to have been accepted in a labor and delivery unit as a new grad. My fear though: what if I hate it? What if I come unhappy every day? What to now with a BSN and thousands of dollars in student loans. I guess long story short was that nursing was not my first career choice and I am feeling a bit "stuck" at the moment. I start tomorrow (orientation) so any information, advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Jenny

HOW did you manage getting a position in L&D?? Just curious- because I'm having a terrible time trying to even land an interview. So I'm happy you found a job.

Once you are in nursing profession.. I'm sure other doors and opportunities will present be available now that your foot is in the door. If you don't like this facet of nursing there are plenty of others for you to get experience in.

yay congrats on the job!!

Luckily you got a BS in Nursing, not in L&D so you can go do something else if you hate it. Good luck!

If you dislike it, Most hospitals will let you transfer to a different department instead of losing all the orientation time they invest in you. Lucky for you L&D!!!

Congratz! I started out as a new grad in L&D as well. I can tell you to keep an open mind and know that each day and patient are new. If you hate it, hey, there's other areas to transfer to. Good luck!! :)

Thanks everyone! To those who asked, I got the job the old fashioned way: applying for it! So it is possible, don't settle!
