New grad, job hunting, where to apply

I just graduated and passed NCLEX. As I am job hunting, I come across positions for intern, staff nurse, graduate nurse, registered graduate nurse. Which title am I considered? Should I be looking for an intern position? I don't have much hospital experience. I'm not sure what I should be looking for. HELP!

The "intern" title is often (but not always) used to refer to someone who is still in nursing school. I think you could apply for any of the other titles (including intern if the job description makes it clear that they're looking for a graduate), and you could also call HR to see if they have a preference. My guess is that you'll do better with the graduate nurse and registered graduate nurse positions than staff nurse, unless the staff nurse jobs specify "new grads welcome". Good luck! And congrats on passing NCLEX.

Normally these are the words they use:

Clinical Nurse I

New Grad RN

"RN Residency Program"

Graduate RN

Sometimes, they also use "staff RN," but that varies depending on the specification such as "AT LEAST 1 yr experience in ICU" which means, it is for experienced RNs only. You might have to read more on qualifications/minimum requirements. :nuke:

Thanks Wendy and Blue.

Right now, I'm just having a real hard time finding a position. "Any positions". The economy is so bad, the hospitals have a hiring freeze.
